Deaf Awareness Night
TXRD is typically known for its fun-loving, sassy skaters and all the hard hits that go with a roller derby bout. Right now, however, we want to shed some serious light on a different kind of hit – domestic violence and its silent victims.
Domestic violence is no game, and our deaf community needs a national, American Sign Language (ASL) accessible hotline immediately, which is staffed with advocates who can sign, should they ever need to cry out for help. We at TXRD want to support that in any way possible. What better way than to play roller derby, raise awareness, and donate to the cause?! TXRD will be donating $1 for every bout ticket sold to WhoWillAnswer.org. We’ve invited all our deaf and hard of hearing friends to come enjoy some roller derby, meet some new friends, and raise awareness.
Don’t know any sign language? Don’t let that put your toe-stops on the floor! CSD.org will be providing eight (8) interpreters for the bout who can help introduce you to ALS. So sprint yer butt to the Palmer, learn to say hello, and meet some great people – all while catching a great night of roller derby!
Now, you know that our skaters can’t just play roller derby…there has to be a competition in everything they do. So, TXRD has made donation jars for the teams playing that night. The team that makes the most money gets BOTH jars total donated to #whowillanswer in their name. So bring a dollar and watch your favorite team holler when they get to put their name on that win!

The official color for the cause is purple. Our bouting teams have both been finding special ways to add that splash of color to their uniforms, and we challenge you to do the same. Bring your baddest, purple-est boutfit of all, take as many selfies as you can manage and put tag them here:
