Shenanigans

By TXRD Newsroom February 19, 2014

That’s the only way to describe this bout in one word… Massive points, an ejection, and plenty of penalties to keep the crowd content. This is how we roller derby!

The All Scar Army hit the track running and didn’t let up. With 29 points at the end of the first quarter, it didn’t take a psychic to know how this one was going to end out. But the Cherry Bombs didn’t give up easily.

The beloved Bombs took 3 points away from the All Scars in the first, and kept fighting. There was plenty of fresh meat on their bench to keep their hunger up, and chomp away they did! Hired Gun Juicy Cooter annihilated Dill Dozer in a quick game of tug o’ war. Yes, yes, there are plenty of unspoken jokes there – we know. All-Scar pivot Dusty Doublewide snatched the jammer panty from Candy Slam in attempt to widen the gap, but those Bombs just weren’t having it.

In the second, we watched Milla Juke-a-Bitch from the Bombs take a hard rail and keep going. Pretty sure she suffered a cracked rib or two outta that one – talk about determination!! Again the Bombs used Juicy Cooter to their advantage and put her in against Mini Massacre for a pillow fight… well ok, fight is probably not the right word. Mini’s only defense was to hold on! Ol’ Dixie Sanchez tried to be sneaky with a star pass, but those Bombs were watching! Again the Bombs stole away 3 points from those All Scars.

After half-time, the All Scars got in some “major” trouble. 3 in a row cost them another point, with a total of 4 majors in that quarter alone. Dusty got herself a quick trip off the track for the rest of the bout, and was not happy with that idea at all. A cold beer and lots of yelling seemed to ease the pain though.

By the 4th, Timebomb was mad and chasing people around the track, the score was off the charts, and the All Scars had learned not to do bad things that earned major penalties. There was an attempted leg whip, many more minor penalties fought, and so many Hired Guns to watch! This was definitely a great bout for the new blood of TXRD. We look forward to the season with all the teams and newbies fighting to show off their skills!
