Season’s Beatings Roller Derby Style
Ho Ho Holy Cow! When they say “Wreck League” they mean it! Those badasses wrecked Santa’s toy shop this past Saturday at the Season’s Beatings underground bout. These rolling wrecking balls mean business, and they showed it with an ankle injury during the warm-up and then some broken ribs and a fractured arm during the bout! The scoreboard says that Team Christmas won by the numbers (52-32), but Team Halloween had all of its players walk away in one piece; that’s winning in our book.
TXRD’s mash-up was less ….broken, but definitely more down and dirty! This wasn’t an underground bout for nothing! This knock-down / drag out had shenanigans a-plenty, including some by the head referee in the 4th quarter. The Halloween Freaks was able to stuff Team Christmas’ stocking and pull off the win. We at TXRD think the final score was (40-18), but there were so many antics that the scoreboard might just have fallen victim to Team Halloween’s tricks too.
All in all, the weather was great, the bleachers were full, and TXRD is thankful for all that were involved! Banked Track Roller Derby – the most entertaining sport in the world.
