Become a Skater

By TXRD Newsroom February 20, 2016

Texas Roller Derby is looking for fresh faces!

TXRD will be holding tryouts on Saturday, February 27th and Sunday, February 28th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Here, our evaluators will lead a short warm-up before the main event gets underway. The tryout itself consists of a skills assessment including timed laps, falls, stops, and other basics to give TXRD a taste of what you’ve got!

Those who make the cut will be accepted into TXRD New Girl Training, the next level of the tryout process. New Girl Training, led by badasses Smitey Mouse of Las Putas del Fuego, Rolla Parks of the Cherry Bombs, and Ghettostar Balactica of the Holy Rollers, is an intense three-month process where your grit, endurance, and dedication will be tested. You’ll learn all there is to know about playing TXRD’s unique brand of derby, and a final evaluation at the end will determine which New Girls become TXRD Rollergirls!

Please note that this is our ONLY tryout of 2016! If you’re interested in skating for TXRD, this is not the time to procrastinate!

Don’t have gear? Not a problem! We’ll have gear and skates available to rent. Bring $10 ($15 if you’re renting equipment) and your game face to the Thunderdome at 9204 United Dr. and start on the path to being your own hero!
