2016 Calvello Cup

By TXRD Newsroom October 13, 2016

Who is in the Calvello Cup? Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for!

Three teams have been knocked out of the running for the 15th Anniversary Season Calvello Cup championship title.

Two titans remain, ready for the final brawl of 2016: the Hellcats, no longer undefeated but still boasting an impressive string of victories this season, and the Cherry Bombs, having smashed their way to a rematch with the women in pink. It’s game on, derby fans!

The Hellcats come into this momentous game still licking their wounds in the wake of the season’s biggest upset, a surprising loss to Las Putas del Fuego that tarnished the Cats’ season-long winning streak and resulted in a number of devastating injuries to several of their biggest threats. After dusting themselves off and regrouping, the Hellcats enter this match at a disadvantage with fearsome captain Roxxi Revolver playing with a broken wrist and triple-threat skater Mo-Lest-Her still recovering from a nasty concussion. However, the remaining lineup is still formidable, with star talents like Hannthrax, Heathen, Glitterotica, Jammit Janet, and new draftee Break n’ Bake ready to represent for their team.

Meanwhile, the Cherry Bombs boast one of the most solid active rosters in TXRD right now, with powerhouse skaters like Rocky Casbah, Rolla Parks, Milla Juke-a-Bitch, and rookie sensation Joliet Jane, all of whom are equally comfortable on the jam line and creating havoc in the pack in signature Cherry Bomb wrecking-ball style. Having lost to the Hellcats earlier in the season, the Bombs enter the arena on Saturday with revenge on their minds and a hunger to reclaim the championship title from years past. Their shot at victory will hinge on whether their aggressive jammers and destructive blockers will be able to tear down the powerful defensive walls and overall synchronicity the kitties have used this season to keep opposing point-scorers at bay. The stakes are as high as they could possibly be for both teams, and we can expect to see some desperate maneuvers and skull-rattling blocks in this climax of the 2016 season!

Two teams enter the Thunderdome. One team leaves victorious. Will you be there to bear witness?
