Money Raised, Good Wins Over Evil, and Skating Skating Skating!

By TXRD Newsroom July 21, 2014

Bet you thought we forgot, didn’t you? No forgetting, us derby girls just needed all our fingers and toes to count! Now that it’s done we are happy to announce: Our Annual 4th of July Pudding Wrestling for Safe Place raised $1532.20!! Thank you to everyone who came out and donated, we couldn’t have done it without you.

Our favorite pudding monster, Dusty Doublewide took home the butterscotch while Lizard slid in a close second. The Cherry Bombs happily reported lots of tasty morsels from the Delwood 2 Neighborhood Parade and BBQ/Pie contests. They’ve all recovered from the food comas and are practicing hard in anticipation of their bout on Saturday, August 9th with the Rhinestone Cowgirls.

The Holy Rollers and las Putas del Fuego gave us everything we could ask for in a banked track roller derby bout this past Saturday! 2 majors called from a minor penalty, bloody noses, 20 point returns and more! When Heaven and Hell toss open the gates, it’s a free for all! Final HR 55 – PDF 49. Check it out on KCWX Friday’s at 9pm or Saturdays at 11pm – http://kcwx.com/sports/roller-derby1/

Texas Roller Derby is bringing back the Open Skate Nights! The Hellcats are kicking it off this Friday, July 25th. Your own skates plus $5 will get you on the track and whirling around in happy Hell kitty style. RSVP at – https://www.facebook.com/events/299495290219199/

Can’t get enough derby and want to join the TXRD ranks? Get tryout ready and come to our Banked Track Derby Clinics on August 2nd and 3rd! Clinics go from 2:30 – 4:30pm and are $20. The Ch-Ch-Cherry Bombs are leading Saturday and those Firey Putas del Fuego are taking over Sunday! More details on the events page- https://www.facebook.com/events/270418649829614/
