Calvello Cup 2015

By TXRD Newsroom October 10, 2015

The first hints of Fall, like the leaves changing colours and a dip in the temperature, is not always the same in Texas as it is around the country. Heck, we know Fall by a different name. That’s right; it’s Football Season! You know that means four quarters of hard hits, lots of penalties, and great physiques in uniform. . .  wait. That sounds more like roller derby than football.

We know that many derby fans fill their off-season with first downs and tackles, and there is one more TXRD bout left to ease `em into the changing seasons.

The 2015 Calvello Cup will pit last year’s champions, Las Putas Del Fuego, against the red-hot Cherry Bombs. That’s right, TXRD is bringing together the best two teams of the season for a true battle royale where both teams will be fighting for the title and the Calvello Cup trophy.

Las Putas Del Fuego won the bout the last time these two faced off; however, The Cherry Bombs haven’t lost a single bout since then. The Cherry Bombs are coming in rested after earning a bye and heading straight to the Calvello Cup, and Las Putas are coming in on the heels of four straight victories. This promises to be a truly explosive championship that will leave the Palmer Events Center ablaze in excitement.

This is not a bout anyone will want to miss, so get your tickets now. The 2015 Calvello Cup will be held on October 17th at the Palmer Events Center. Doors open at 6:00, and the first whistle is at 7:00.

We know everyone will miss the TXRD roller derby season, but in the meantime you can enjoy the big hits, chicken wings, and end zone dances of football while you daydream about the 2016 All Scar Army bout and the first whistle of next season.
