The 2007 season for the Lonestar Rollergirls is upon us. The season opener between the Holy Rollers and the Hellcats will give way to a series of bouts that are sure to be full of surprises. This night started off on a grim note for the Holy Rollers, whom unexpectedly lost two of their veteran skaters. The Hellcats were ready to claw their way to victory.

The first jam of the night was a true showing of student vs. teacher - Dixie Sanchez (formerly of the Dixie Derby Girls of Huntsville, AL) facing off against Professor Smarty Pants. The lesson was given by the professor, shutting down the jam with score at Hellcats 1 vs. Holy Rollers 3. The tables toon turned. In the third jam, with a minor penalty called on Smarty Pants, the Hellcats would see to it that the professor feel just how sharp those claws are. Smarty’s punishment was a pillow fight and the Hellcats sent out Fanny Smack, the friskiest kitten of all! The Holy Rollers list, bringing the score to HC 3 vs. HR4. Jam after jam, the first half was full of intensity, both teams keeping the score neck and neck. The final score at halftime was HC 23 vs HR 23!!!

At the start of the second half both teams had shared the same taste of victory, a preview of what was to come. The audience witnessed a tremendous display of roller derby athleticism. After an exciting series of jams and penalties in the 3rd and 4th quarters, the bout closed with an astonishing of HC 35 vs HR 52. Once the Holy Rollers got ahead, they hung on to the lead and just made it bigger and bigger. None the less, the Hellcats proved to have a strong team of new skaters and the Holy Rollers proved that they remain a powerful force no matter what obstacles come their way.
