NOVEMBER 19th BOUT RE-CAP: ALL SCAR ARMY VS. PUTAS DEL FUEGO
Sunday, November 19th, 2006On November 19, 2006, the Lonestar Roller Speedway was clearly marked as the battle ground for what has now become one of TXRD’s traditions - the exhibition bout between the All Scar Army and the reigning Calvello Cup Champions. This year, the All Scar Army, composed of the best of the other four teams faced off in battle against the Putas del Fuego. The only sure thing that night was that the much anticipated showdown was going to cost someone some bragging rights.
The night quickly filled itself with intensity in the first quarter, with pride at stake for every point. The score was tied at 4-4 as the third jam came to a close. The next jam brought out crowd favorite Chola vs. Evilyn Carnit and in true Fuego fashion the lead was taken by the Putas with a score of 8-4 at the close of the 4th jam. The ASA may have expected little resistance but were quite surprised to find a team of completely united Putas holding the lead at 12-5 into the 6th jam. The battle raged over the next couple of jams with the ASA constantly trying to flank their Puta counterparts.
The second quarter gave way to the All Scars taking the lead as they doggedly pursued the victory they had come for. The Putas trailed by 10 at the half and would never make up the slack. The All Scar Army continued to forge ahead, closing the third quarter with a score of 45-37. The end of the 3rd quarter also marked a high-profile loss for the Putas with Chingona getting ejected to the game. The ASA pressed their advantage and forced the Putas into a time-out to re-evaluate their strategy. The Putas couldn’t hold their ground under the onslaught of the ASA. The final score was ASA 69 vs. Putas 46, but the night went down as one of the greatest battles ever fought. The All Scar Army walked away with another victory, proving yet again that the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls are a force to be reckoned with!
